The Sebastian :: About meAbout me - Sebastián E. Brocher
Hi! Thank you for visiting my blog, my name is Sebastián Brocher and I am an entrepreneur living in Austin, TX. Half Argentinean, a quarter German and a quarter Irish, I was born in Buenos Aires the 2nd of march 1979. Although I hold a Computer Engineering degree in Informatics science from ITBA and I have extensive technology work experience, I have always admired and participated in the entrepreneurship and business world. This blog is a collection of articles I write as a result of my interest in these professional fields and one more way to learn, teach and share knowledge with the flat world.
Contract me Bootstrapping a business takes time. Meanwhile, I'm available for contract work. I am a highly-motivated software professional, experienced project manager and strong team leader. Depending on the size and problem domain of your project, I can either help as an independent technology consultant (visit my personal technology business website at neomelon.com) or put together a full team of experts in technology, marketing, finances, business management and other fields. Please feel free to contact me for more information, I would be very glad to hear from you and discuss how I can help getting your project done on-time and on-budget.
Previous experience During the last years of my engineering studies, I lectured on physics and discrete mathematics as a Teacher Assistant. Meanwhile, I was also working as a team leader for a web development start-up company and doing some freelance work in accounting and finance computer systems. Afterwards, I co-founded and profitably operated a small IT consulting company named Tuxar. That worked out pretty well, until the Argentinean socioeconomic crisis came on 2001 and shut us down. We were too small and too young to survive. I then moved to Paris, France to work for Schlumberger's Smart Cards department and get some international experience. About the same time the business unit got spun-off from Schlumberger and became a publicly traded company (in the Euronext stock exchange) named Axalto, I gladly accepted a transfer offer to Austin, TX. Axalto later merged with their main ex-competitor, Gemplus, and became Gemalto, where I used to manage a highly-specialized software development team. Along the way, I did some freelance programming and took some consulting contracts. I have also authored different open-source projects; some of which are still around (visit http://freshmeat.net/~sbrocher/ for more info). I am a member of some Austin MeetUp groups and also an active Toastmaster.
Other interests On my free time, I enjoy learning, reading, writing, teaching, golfing, playing tennis, working out, running, mountain biking, practicing yoga, investing, grilling, dinning out, watching movies and, above all, spending quality time with my family and friends. I also play piano, keyboards and guitar, study jazz and compose some tunes from time to time. I am fluent in Spanish, French and English and would like to start learning German sometime soon.
Thank you I sincerely hope you will enjoy this site and would like to encourage you to please send me your comments and feedback to seb@thesebastian.com. Thanks for reading! |
